The Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences was established in 1915 and was one of the first in Europe to bring together the disciplines of social and economic sciences. It is the largest faculty of the University of Geneva, and by far the most pluridisciplinary, with the guiding objective to provide an education for future leaders and executives that is underpinned by a humanistic approach. The faculty is the first, in Switzerland, in number publications both in social sciences as well as in economics and business.
The Faculty has over a hundred professors, and offers degree and joint-degree courses in Business Administration, Communication and Media Studies, Economics and Finance, Economic and Social History, Econometrics, Gender Studies, Geography, Information Systems, International Relations, Political Science, Public Management and Analysis of Public Policy, Sociology, and Statistics. Given the diversity of courses and research, the Faculty is ideally placed to draw on the competences of various individuals and subjects needed to support the unique area of managing international governmental and nongovernmental organizations.
